The Youth and Sports Minister, Honorable Isaac Asiamah held a fruitful meeting with the Normalization Committee at his office in Accra today February 20, 2019.
The meeting which lasted over an hour is reported to have centered around the cancellation of the Special Competition which was initiated by the Committee for Premier League and Division One Clubs and the way forward of Ghana football.
The Special Competition was supposed to fill the vacuum created as football activities in the country is being normalized.
A sum of 1.2 million dollars from the government was supposed to be invested in the competition with each club to play a minimum of 8 games, attracting an appearance of 20000 Ghana cedis.
The competition was however cancelled after the Premier League showed their unwillingness to participate. In a statement released by the Committee confirming the cancellation, the attitude from the Premier League Clubs was described as selfish, greedy and braggadocios.
The Committee met the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports for the way- forward of Ghana football and were asked to apologise to the sixteen Premier League Clubs for those hard comment from the GFA Normalization Committee.
The Dr. Kofi Amoah led Committee met the Sports Minister today and reports reveal same issues were discussed and reports continue that the Special Competition will surely come on in the country.
