Saint John’s Schools captain, Aaron Essel says he wants to play for Spanish Laliga giant, Real Madrid in the future.
Essel captained Saint John’s Schools to the final of the Western Regional Inter-schools and Colleges Super Zonals Boys Soccer Competition but lost the ultimate to Takoradi Technical Institute via 6:5 on penalty shootouts after 0:0 in regulation.
Speaking to Kyfilla.com after the final game on last Friday afternoon at the Sekondi Sports Stadium, Essel who was adjudged the overall best player of the competition, applauded TTI for winning the competition and believes luck was not on their side.
KYFILLA: Where you disappointed your school lost to TTI..??
ESSEL: Yeah, am very disappointed because our aim was to win the ultimate. As a captain, I will apologize for the lost today but we will bounce back.
KYFILLA: What was the problem because you dominated possession but failed to utilize the chances created..??
ESSEL: I think luck was not on our side today because we should have won the game hands down.
KYFILLA: You won the overall best player, how is the feeling like..??
ESSEL: The aim was to lead my school to clinch the ultimate and not personal awards but all the same it’s okay.
KYFILLA: Will you use football as your career or it ends after here..??
ESSEL: Actually, I want to be a professional footballer in the near future and I have to concentrate on the education aspect as well. So it never ends after this competition.
KYFILLA: Which team do you want to play for in future…??
ESSEL: I want to play in Europe for Real Madrid because that’s the team I admire so much even though I was once a Man United fan.
