Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko captain, Joseph Hendricks has hinted that, Ghanaians have learnt virtually nothing from the May 9th Stadium Disaster that occurred at the Accra Sports Stadium.
According to the former Asante Kotoko defender who was part of the Porcupine Warriors squad at the time of the incidence stated that up till now some Ghanaians engaged in hooliganism at the various stadia citing Elmina Sharks- Medeama clash at the Ndoum Sports Stadium as an example.
“Ghanaians don’t learn, nothing has been learnt from that disaster. Look at what happened in Elmina some few days ago”, He told Sekondi based Radio Silver in an interview.
However, the retired football, recounted what happened on the day saying “they lost their lives because of the love for the game”.
“It saddens my heart whenever I remember that day. Some top businessmen lost their lives because of the love for the game, after we got out of the stadium, I saw some posh cars parked around with their owners dead.They were not ordinary fans but well to do people in the society, they lost their lives because of us [players].
