Police have arrested 57 persons in Asante-Mampong of the Ashanti Region for not wearing nose/face masks.
This comes after the government of Ghana has made the wearing of nose/face masks compulsory to help curtail the devastating Coronavirus.

As part of ensuring that Ghanaians comply with the directive from the government, Police in the Asante-Mampong Municipality has mounted an operation to deal with those not complying with the Coronavirus protocols.
Speaking to the media, the Asante-Mampong Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Samuel Boadu said the 57 persons have been put on bail but will be arraigned before court on Thursday, July 9, 2020.

“We have mounted a special operation at Asante/Mampong to ensure full compliance [of the law]. Four days ago 38 persons were arrested; 12 were females and 26 males. Yesterday, we continued and 19 persons; five females and 14 males were also arrested. We intend to put them before the court tomorrow,” the Police Chief said.
Coronavirus cases in Ghana
According to the latest update from the Ghana Health Service, 854 new cases have been recorded making Ghana’s total case count now at 22,822 with 17,564 recoveries.
Ghana’s active cases is now 5,129 with 129 deaths.
