Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah has reacted to reports that coach Mariano Barreto will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
There were reports in the media that the Portuguese tactician will be relinquishing his position at the club when the league season is over.
The reports were that management of Asante Kotoko were not happy with the coach for losing the league title to bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak.[ads2]
Even though, the club is competing in the Ghana FA Cup and are currently in the quarterfinals where they have been drawn against Berekum Chelsea.

Reacting to the growing rumours in the media on Asempa FM, Nana Yaw Amponsah stated that Mariano Barreto still remains the head coach of Asante Kotoko.[ads3]
“As it stands, for us, we [And Barreto are still] working”, Nana Yaw Amponsah said on Asempa FM.
Mariano Barreto joined Asante Kotoko in March, 2021 after the sacking of coach Maxwell Konadu in December last year – following the team’s abysmal performance in the early stages of the league season.
Since joining Asante Kotoko, coach Mariano Barreto has revamped the spirit of the team, where they finished second on the Ghana Premier league.[ads5]
