The staff of the Western Regional Sports Authority on Friday, July 26, 2019 engaged in a massive clean-up exercise within and outside the Sekondi Sports Stadium.
Over fifty staff members of the Directorate overwhelmingly took part in the clean-up exercise.
The exercise led by Mr Joseph Alabi Bortey, Ag. Regional Sports Director, was concentrated on painting the walls, mobbing the hooks and cranes of the stadium especially, conference rooms, weeding the surroundings, fixing of broken pipes and scrubbing the washrooms.
Speaking to Kyfilla.com after the exercise, Mr. Alabi Bortey indicated that, the exercise is part of the measures being put in place to foster a positive maintenance culture of the Directorate; give the facilities a facelift for sports development and promotion and to enhance marketing prospects as well, which is in line with the vision of the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi.
He noted that, on Gyandu Park, the Sports Authority have cleared all the weeds thoroughly and now spraying.
He revealed that, the Regional Sports Authority has decided to paint the walls of the Gyandu Park for the meantime while looking for a private company to do major renovation works which would be subject to approval from the head office in Accra.
Mr. Alabi Bortey stressed the need, as custodians of the facilities, to properly maintain them so that government investments would not go waste.
The staff members after the exercise expressed their readiness to ensure that the facilities are properly maintained.
