It was all fun and excitement at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa as Akoon Community were crowned champions of the MTN @ 25 fun Games on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
The event which brought top media personalities in the Western Region together, saw the Akoon Park almost full to capacity with spectators cheering their teams on.
The semifinal of the event saw staff from MTN defeating the media team from Tarkwa in penalty shootouts after 3:3 in the regulation period to book a place in the final while the second semifinal encounter ended 3:1 in favor of Akoon Community team against the media team from Takoradi.
The Takoradi media team that had the likes of Stephen Kwame Yeboah and Solomon Amakwah (Ahoto FM), Osei Kuffour and Oumar Salifu Sanda (Twincity Radio), Francis Hema (Connect FM) and Alfred Takyi Mensah formerly of Connect FM were too difficult to be contained as they hammered the media team from Tarkwa led by Medeama FC communication director Patrick Akoto 2:1 to emerged as the second runners up.
The final was a cagey one as staff from MTN and the Akoon Community team showcased a beautiful and tantalizing encounter in front of over 500 spectators. It took a late minute goal that ensured Akoon Community Team emerged champions of the competition.
The Tarkwa Media Team were given GH¢300.00 for placing fourth while the Takoradi Media Team returned home with GH¢500.00. The MTN staff who placed second had GH¢1000.00 while the Akoon Community team, aside the trophy, went home with GH¢1,500.00.
The Western Regional Manager for MTN Ghana, Mr. Prince Owusu Nyarko after the event which was full of fun, thanked the participating teams, the Akoon Community for a successful event.
He took the opportunity to express gratitude to all MTN subscribers for making the telecommunication company number one in Ghana and since its existence in the West African country.
Mr. Owusu also entreated those who are not on MTN, to as soon as possible, join the Y’ello family as the company envisage to offer clients incredible and amazing packages as part of the 25th anniversary.
