Sekondi Hasaacas midfielder Ibrahim Sanah Mohammed’s set piece credentials will be winning him loads of applauds in the coming days already establishing himself as one of the best to have emerged from the country.
When mentioning world class free kicks specialists, names like David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho and others quickly take the spots, more likely, we might be adding Ibrahim Sanah perhaps before long.
Even though Ghana is not globally known as country blessed with much dead-ball ‘vampires’ compared to England, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and others, the local scene in one way or the other has produced some finest free kick takers such as Don Bortey formerly of Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics, Akwasi Donsu formerly of Medeama SC, Asante Kotoko’s Abdul Fatawu Shafiu and the likes.
One emerging free kick taker who is gradually stipulating his name in the record books locally is Sekondi Hasaacas versatile midfielder Ibrahim Sanah Mohammed.
The 20-year old midfielder who graduated from Hasaacas junior side Malavands in the 2016-17 season of the Division One League is another free kick prospect the world must watch out for.
Sanah missed most part of the 2016-17 season due to injury and also the entire 2017 season. The Normalization Committee Special Competition was his major season with the 1977 Ghana Premier League champions.
The Black Stars ‘B’ enforcer played as a Central Midfielder and occasionally as a defensive midfielder netting five goals in the NC Special Competition for Sekondi Hasaacas with five assists in twelve games.
Out of the five goals he scored in the NC Special Competition tier 2, two were free kicks against fellow lower tier side and eventual finalist Nzema Kotoko at the Gyandu Park in Sekondi.
The two goals which were stunners gave Sekondi Hasaacas the three maximum points as they pipped Nzema Kotoko 2:1 at home.
Inasmuch as Hasaacas couldn’t secure a qualification from the group stages of the NC Special Competition, Ibrahim Sanah was a delight to watch and a pillar at the heart of midfield for the 1931 side.
