Ghana Premier League side, Elmina Sharks defeated Sekondi Eleven Wise in the semifinals of the Goldfields Western Region Invitational Tournament at the Sekondi Sports Stadium today.
It was a 4-2 victory on penalty shoot-outs that ensured that, the Elmina based club secure a ticket to the finals of the competition.

Sekondi Eleven Wise opened the floodgate in the early minutes of the cagey encounter, raining pressure on the defense of the Elmina based club for the opener.

Osman Mohammed opened the scoreline for the Western Show Boys as early as the fifth minutes.
The former Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs attacker connected James Bissue’ free kick to send Eleven Wise to the lead.

Elmina Sharks mistakenly conceded an own goal but surprisingly the assistant line one flagged for offside against Eleven Wise, denying the Monkeys the second goal.
Elmina Sharks quickly regrouped and started dominating possession but Eleven Wise goalkeeper Isaac Ofori became the hero as he made three crucial saves.
Sharks continued knocking the doors of Eleven Wise for the equalizer until Benjamin Boateng snatched the parity to end the first half of the game.
Coach Yaw Acheampong’ side returned from the recess to a tantalizing showdown, creating glaring opportunities but failed to utilize them.
The game became a ding-dong affair with both clubs creating goal threatening opportunities.

The game ended 1-1 and the teams had to be separated on penalty shoot-outs.
Elmina Sharks managed to beat Eleven Wise 4-2 on shootouts to book a slot in the finals.
