The Black Meteors of Ghana pipped Algeria today to qualify for the Africa U23 Championship.
Ghana defied all negatives to defeat the Algerians 1-0 at the May 8 Stadium in Setif.
Skipper, Yaw Yeboah netted the only goal in the match to ensure Ghana secure a slot in the Africa U23 Championship, via 2-1 on aggregates.
Yaw Yeboah found the net for Ghana in the 65th minute of the match, to ensure Ghana qualify for the upcoming Africa U23 Championship in Egypt.
Algeria started the game on a good note but couldn’t utilize the opportunity they created.
The first forty-five minutes of the game ended in goalless, with the Algerians enjoying much possession.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’ side returned from the recess with enough energy, creating some goal threatening opportunities, which resulted to Yaw Yeboah’ goal.
The victory means Ghana have qualified for the Africa U23 Championship for the first time after several attempts.
The Africa U23 Championship will be stage in Egypt between 5-22nd November, 2019.
The top three times automatically qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, with the fourth team to play a play off.
