The MCE addressing the press during a press conference held at the assembly, she noted that the Assembly has not imposed any amount on the traders to pay but have began stakeholder engagements and proposed the cost and modalities for payment. According to her, so far, they have been meeting with the various stakeholders including item leaders, traditional authorities and religious leaders among others within the last two weeks and this engagement is ongoing.
She said it was proposed during the meetings that the construction, administrative & overhead rate per open market shed will be Seven Thousand, Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢7,500.00), of which the traders are to pay in installments spread daily, of an amount of (GH¢2.00) or monthly for (GH¢60.00), over a period of ten (10) years, which in comparison with other Assemblies, is relatively cheaper.
Therefore it is not true the allegations by some of the traders that the Assembly is charging One Thousand, Seven Hundred Ghana Cedis upfront before the actual construction of the market commences.
The honorable MCE further assured the traders of the Dome Market and the general public that the Assembly has their interest at heart and will not do anything that will derail their commitment towards enhancing their socio-economic lives in line with the vision of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
