Ghana Football Association promise of offering GHS 20,000 to anyone who provides concrete information on incidences of the act of bribery has been met after Sekondi Hasaacas SC provided empirical evidences against Samartex 1996 Football Club for allegedly trying to induce skipper Thomas Aboagye and other players ahead of their match day six of the Division One League.
GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi was quoted by citifmonline.com on November 30, 2017 – “If a referee is approached by a club official, we are encouraging them to report the club official. We are proposing a GH¢ 20,000 reward for anyone who comes forward to report any case of bribery with evidence so we know it is credible.”
Sekondi Hasaacas have provided material evidence of Samartex Football Club, a fellow Zone Two side for paying a sum of GHS 4,000.00 to their skipper and police officer Thomas Aboagye and other players to soften up when the two sides met at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.
The game ended with Samartex FC winning 2:1 against the Sekondi based side at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.
The Samraboi based side through a mediator who according to Sekondi Hasaacas revealed himself as Lincoln paid a sum of GHS 4,000.00 to the mobile money wallet of skipper Thomas Aboagye.
According to the former Ghana Premier League side audio recordings of what transpired between the skipper[Thomas Aboagye], Lincoln, CEO of Samartex and Sarmatex head coach[Steven Abugri] have been sent to the Ghana Football Association. The club included receipt of mobile money payment paid into Thomas Aboagye’s account by Samartex 1996 FC through Lincoln.
