The Director for Monitoring, Evaluation and Research, Mr. Kwame Baah has stated emphatically that Honorable Alex Agyekum did not lobby for Mpohor to host the just ended 2019 National Cross Country.
Honorable Alex Agyekum- Member of Parliament for Mpohor, was being rumoured to have influenced the decision of the Sports Ministry in conjunction with the National Sports Authority to stage the 2019 National Cross Country race competition in Mpohor.
However, Mr. Kwame Baah insisted that honorable Agyekum never influence the choosing of Mpohor as the hosts for the race competition neither supporting the organization of the event in anyway and also donated nothing not even a ‘water bottle’s for the athletes.
The 28th edition of the National Cross Country which ended last Saturday February 9, 2019 at Mpohor saw over 180 runners from the various ten administrative regions of the country participating in a ten kilometer distance for glory.
At the end, Upper West, Central Region were winners of the both women and men’s category respectfully with fifteen-year old Ramata Abdulai from the Upper West winning the women’s category with a time of 36 minutes, 35 seconds whereas Malik Yakubu from the Ashanti Region won the men’s category with a time of 30 minutes, 02 seconds.
Present at the competition was the deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Honorable Perry Curtis Kwudzato, DCE for Mpohor, Honorable Ignatius Mensah, Omanhene of Mpohor, Osaberima kwaw Entsie II, the various NSA officers across the country, headmistress for Mpohor Senior High School, Madam Alberta Rachael Quayson among others.
