Ashgold prolific striker Shafiu Mumuni bagged a hat-trick as Ghana walloped neighbouring country Ivory Coast in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Championship in Senegal.

The Black Stars ‘B’ of Ghana defeated their counterpart from La Cote D’Ivoire by 3-1 today to reach the finals of the competition.
Ghana opened the floodgate with much pressure and determination of getting the opener.
Asante Kotoko forward Augustine Okrah nearly registered the opener but his strike went wide.

Skipper for the Black Stars ‘B’, Shafiu Mumuni had the opener in the 30th minute of the game to end the first half.
The Ashgold marksman had the double in the 46th minute of the game before adding the final goal from a powerful header with Augustine Okrah doing the assist.

Abubakur Doumbia reduced the tally to 3-1 in the 78th minute but was not enough as Ghana held on till the blast of the final whistle.
Shafiu Mumuni has become the first player to net a hat-trick in the WAFU Championship since inception and he is on the verge of winning the topscorers award in the ongoing competition.

The victory has ensured that Ghana secure a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
