Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams may not play for the Black Stars in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic, according to a number of media sources.
Ghana’s June schedule includes matches against Mali on June 6 and the Central African Republic at Baba Yara Stadium on June 10.
Williams, however, underwent surgery lately to repair a “painful” scar on his left foot, according Athletic Bilbao, as reported by Modern Ghana.
Williams’ recuperation time is still “uncertain,” according to the same article, it’s possible that he won’t be ready for Ghana’s World Cup qualifying matches next month.
Williams missed matches against Nigeria and Uganda in March due to injury, therefore Ghana coach Otto Addo is reportedly keen to get him back for his team’s next games.
Williams has scored 12 goals in 34 appearances for Bilbao this season, making him one of the team’s best players in 2023/2024. The striker’s performances in La Liga this past season also earned him the title of Top African Player.
