Prince Aboagye was given a jail term of seven years for defiling an eight-year-old girl at Atomic Down by the Circuit Court in Accra on Thursday, September 6.
Aboagye nodded that he had a girlfriend, and added they are no more seeing each other when he was quizzed by trial Judge, Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku
Prince Aboagye, age 22, was charged with defilement after pleading guilty.
After further questioning, Aboagye added that his former girlfriend was at age 18.
To the surprise of the court hose, Aboagye said the victim might be seven years old when asked whether he knew her age.
Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, the judge, went on to convict Aboagye on his own plea and sentenced him to seven years.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs. Agnes Boafo said the complainant resided at Atomic Down, in Accra with the victim who was a class two pupil and Aboagye was a co-tenant.
On August 8, this year at about 1930 hours, the complainant saw the victim and her elder sister in the company of the convict in front of his door.
However, prosecution said the complainant called the elder daughter and sent her on an errand.
Prosecution said the convict took advantage of the absence of the victim’s elder sister and invited her (victim) into his room.
Aboagye locked the door and had sexual intercourse with the victim on a table. After the act, the prosecutor said convict heard the complainant looking for the victim and they both stepped out of the convict’s room.
When questioned, the victim narrated her ordeal to the complainant, the prosecutor said.
A complaint was lodged at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at Madina and a Police medical report form was issued to the complainant to seek medical assistance for the victim.
The Police then nabbed the Convict, Prince Aboagye took him to the Police station.
