Ghanaian duo, James Kotei and Nicholas Gyan were in blistering form last Sunday for their Tanzanian Club Simba Sc when they defeated AS Ports of Djibouti 1-0 in the quarter finals of the 2018 Cecafa – Kagame Cup played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
The duo played a pivotal role when the Msimbazi Kariako based club won the 2017/2018 Tanzania Premier League which ended last month.
The 2018 Cecafa – Kagame Cup started on June 28, with 4 teams in 3 groups .
Coach Pierre Lechantre side, Simba sc were placed in Group C with the likes of Singida ,also from Tanzania, APR of Rwanda and Dakadaha from Somalia .
The Msimbazi Kariako based club came first in the group with 7points and set up a quarter final clash with AS Ports from Djibouti on Sunday July 8,2018 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The only goal in the game for Simba sc came in the 64th minute, when a tailored measured pass from Midfield dynamo James Kotei got to sensational winger Nicholas Gyan who find Striker Mohammed Rashid who fired pass the far corner of the AS Ports goalkeeper to find the opener which send the home fans into wild jubilation at the National Stadium Dar es Salaam.
Both Kotei and Gyan played 90 minutes for Simba sc and they were a delight to watch throughout the who game.
Simba sc will know their opponent for the semi final stage after the last quarter final game which will be played at today the National Stadium .
The Two semi final games is slated for this Wednesday 11th July,2018 at the National Stadium in Tanzania.
