Western Region Police to press criminal charges against the proprietor of Learners Bridge Academy for negligence in the fatal accident
Police in the Western Region is considering preferring criminal charges against the proprietor of Learners Bridge Academy for negligence in the fatal accident involving the school’s bus and a tipper truck, leading to the death of the 7 persons – 5 pupils and 2 teachers.
The Regional Commander of MTTD, Chief Supt Richard Appiah told Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan that initial police investigation suggest the sprinter bus with registration number GC 2947-09 was overloaded with 43 pupils including their teachers.
Seven pupils of the Learners’ Bridge Academy died Monday afternoon after the bus on which they were being conveyed home from school was involved in a gory accident with a truck carrying sand at Pepease in Wassa Dompim near Tarkwa in the Western Region.
The school bus is said to have broken its shaft as it was negotiating a curve and thereby lost control due to the speed and in the process collided with a tipper truck.
The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Tarkwa Government hospital.
