In that regard, Mr Koney noted, the chamber poised at supporting all progressive activities designed to support job creation and entrepreneurship in the mining industry to shore up revenue generation for the state.
“It is for this reason that we believe that there is a lot more to be done to boost the role of mining in the economy in spite of a plethora of studies with favourable outcomes, including the ACET 2018 Report, which indicates that mining remains the key driver of the Ghanaian economy- which at present is one of the fastest growing in the world”, he clarified.
Mr Koney said there’s a need to accelerate creation of linkages between the mining industry and other sectors of the Ghanaian economy to maximize benefits.
“We need to accelerate the creation of linkages between mining and other sectors of the economy for its potential broad-based benefits in line with the African Mining Vision which advocates transparent and optimal exploitation of minerals for broad-based socio-economic development. Additionally, an integrated mining sector will further boost the returns that the nation gains from minerals”, he elaborated.
He made these remarks at the launch of an oil and gas facility by Harlequin in Ewusiejoe.
