The government of Ghana has dissolved the governing council of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with immediate effect.
This comes following the recent developments at the University that led to students vandalizing property on campus.
The students at the University did a peaceful protest on last Monday which later turned to violence prompting the Ashanti Regional Security Council to order for the indefinite closure of the school.

However, the governing council of the university has been dissolved by the government and it has been replaced with a seven-member interim management council which will have only three months to manage the university.

The Interim Council is chaired by Nana Effah Apenteng, Paramount Chief of the Bompata Traditional Area. The government has also directed that school will reopen in 14 days to enable academic work to continue.

The other members of the Interim Management Council also include Profs. Rita Akosua Dickson, Joshua Agyarkwa, Dr. Edward Baffoe Bonnie, Madam Hilda Haggar, Mrs. Abena N Antwi and Mr. Kelvin Sah
