South Africa’s Bayana Bayana are through to the grand finale of the ongoing Total Africa Women’s Cup of Nations after beating Mali 2:0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Goals from the deadly Chrestinah Kgatlana and Lebohang Ester Ramalepe were enough for the Bayana Bayana to secure a grand finale spot in the AWCON.
South Africa started the early minutes of the encounter dominating and creating goal scoring opportunities but it’s was squandered by Linda Maserame Motlhalo and Chrestinah Kgatlana.
Linda Maserame Motlhalo had a ball from the right side of the attack and crossed it to the eighteen yards box of the Malians but mistakenly the defenders of the Malians failed to get the ball out of their box where Chrestinah Kgatlana capitalized on the defensive blunder to get the opener for South Africa in the 30th minutes of the first half.
South Africa continued dominating the game in the second half and started creating chances but Jermaine Seoposenwe and Refiloe Jane again squandered all chances.
The game got intense in the 70th minutes as the Malians also started making incursions to get the equalizer but all efforts went fruitless as the defense of the Bayana Bayana managed to compose themselves at the back.
Lebohang Ester Ramalepe doubled the lead for the Bayana Bayana in the 80th minutes with a long range shoot which the goalkeeper for Mali Adoudou Konate failed to save the ball from entering the net.
Fourth official, Suavis Iratung from Burundi after the ninetieth minutes added only two additional time but the Malians couldn’t capitalized on it to even get the equalizer.
The game ended 2:0 in favor of the Bayana Bayana and for the fourth time since 2012 have qualified to the grand finale of the eleventh edition of the Total Africa Women’s Cup of Nations to be stage at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday 17th December,2018.
