The government says it will help zongo women who are into ‘Waakye’, ‘Sobolo making as part of moves to empower them to be economically productive.
From the minister of Inner – city Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hamid, the ministry put in place a number of Socio-economic programmes to improve household incomes of such communities.
Dr. Abdul- Hammid speaking in parliament on Tuesday 27 November,2018 in reply to a parliamentary question filed by Garu Mp Albert Akuka Alalzuga also stated that mostof the youth in Zongo Communities will be trained in the ICT to help them redirect their skills into production ventures.
The Islamic scholar Said : ” The ministry has initiated a number of socio – economic programmes that are targeted at developing the human capacitites of the people in zongo communities and empower them to be economically productive and support the promotions of their small scale business in order to improve household incomes.
To end this, the ministry is working with National Board for small – scale industries (NBSSI) to train selected women across zongo communities who have business and especially in Zongo cuisine like “waakye”, “, koko”, “, Sobolo”, Tubani and the rest, first of all to improve the development and packaging of these foods in order to add value and increase incomes relating with those business.
