Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach C.K Akonnor has warned supporters of the club to stop calling striker Frederick Boateng as ‘Obinim’.
The attacker was spotted in a video given a testimony at the International God’s Way Church which is headed by Prophet Daniel Obinim, thus the player being called ‘Obinim’.
Speaking to Accra based Asempa FM in an interview, Akonnor cautioned that Frederick Boateng is not called ‘Obinim’ and therefore supporters should stop calling him by that name
“Frederick Boateng isn’t called “Obinim”,so the fans should stop calling him by that name”, he said.
Akonnor however, entreats the supporters of the Kumasi based team to be patient with the striker because he is in the team for a reason.
“The supporters should be patient with him because he is in the club for a reason “, he added.
Frederick Boateng made the cut for the final 18 man squad for the Asante Kotoko Kenya trip in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kotoko will meet Kenyan giant Kariobanji Sharks in the second stage of the CAF Confederation Cup prelims which is slated for Saturday 15th December, 2018 at the Kasarani Stadium at 3:00PM in Kenya and 12noon in Ghana.
The return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup encounter is scheduled for Saturday 22nd December,2018 at the Baba Yara Sports in Kumasi.
