FC Minsk Center Back, Faustina Ampah, Ampem Darkoa’s midfielder Grace Asantewaa and Northern Ladies forward Abdulai Mukurama are the trio named for the 2018 SWAG Female Footballer of the Year Award.
Faustina Ampah ended the year with five major titles, winning the 2018 WAFU Cup with the Black Queens, played part in the 2018 AWCON and won four titles with Belarus Women’s League Giants, FC Minsk.
The stalwart defender who was formerly with Ghana’s Blessed Ladies FC snatched the Belarus Super Cup, the Belarus Women’s League, Belarus Women’s Cup and the Baltic League titles in 2018.
Grace Asantewaa was part of the Black Queens team that lifted the WAFU Cup at Ivory Coast, joined the Black Princesses to the 2018 World Cup in France and ended the year is one of the 21 selected by Coach Bashiru Hayford.
For her superb performance at the recently held Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay, Black Maiden’s striker Mukarama Abdulai landed the final nomination slot.
The Northern Ladies attacker snatched the top scorer award and the bronze ball in the 2018 FIFA Female World Cup. She faces stiff competition from Faustina Ampah and Grace Asantewaa who had incredible season as club level.
This list makes up for a very interesting battle as all three nominees had a great 2018.
