Astute tactician David Duncan has confidently opined that Ghana is capable of winning the 2019 African Cup of Nations despite the expansion to 24 countries.
Ghana won their fourth and the last AFCON tournament in 1982 and since then has been struggling to win it for the fifth time.
However, the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko gaffer believes with enough preparations, Ghana can clinch the upcoming tournament on the fifth time even though the number of participating countries has been extended to 24 instead of the initial 16.
” I think Ghana is capable of winning the 2019 AFCON because we have the pedigree and what it takes to win it”, he said.
“We [Ghana] only have to prepare thoroughly for the competition and I believe coach Kwesi Appiah and his charges can win the tournament.
Ghana has already qualified for the 2019 AFCON with six points together with Kenya from the same group (Group F).
The 32nd edition of the Total African Cup of Nations is scheduled to commence on 15th June to 13th July,2019 and would be stage in Egypt after it was stripped off from Cameroon due to slow in preparations.
