Kumasi Asante Kotoko have secured their first victory in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup group stages after beating Zesco United 2:1 today.
Goals from in-form Kwame Bonsu and Emmanuel Gyamfi were enough for the Porcupines as they thumped their Zambian opponent 2:1 at the Baba Yara Sports.
Bonsu had the opener for the Porcupine Warriors before Emmanuel Gyamfi could double the lead with assist coming from striker Songne Yacouba.
Coach Lwandamina’ side came in strong after the first forty-five minutes break and eventually Ghana International Rahim Osumanu had the consolation from a defensive blunder on the part of Asante Kotoko. The game ended 2:1 in favour of the Kumasi based club.
The victory means Kotoko stand a chance of making it to the quarter-final since the group is now open with the four clubs having three points each.
Zesco United after losing painfully to the Ghanaian side are top of the table with three points plus a goal whereas Al Hilal, Asante Kotoko have three points plus no goal placing second and third positions respectfully whilst Nkana FC are fourth with three points minus a goal.
Kotoko will face Nkana FC at the Nkana Stadium in their third group game while Zesco United lock horns with Al Hilal.
