The Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority(GBA) Regional Outreach Committee, Mr. Twintoh Walker has called on media in the Western region to help stabilize and sustain boxing in the region.
According to Mr. Walker, the Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) affiliates to the African and International Boxing Bodies like IBF, WBO, WBC, WBA, CBC and for the past years afforded invitations to their programme and therefore opportunities are available for media practitioners who would contribute in ensuring that boxing is stabilized and sustained in the region.
He made this revelation during a media briefing today February 15, 2019 in Takoradi.
He also stated in his speech that the Ghana Boxing Association in conjunction with the Ghana Boxing Federation have pledged to support and assist any regional branch which is prepared to put up ‘serious’ approach to develop boxing in its jurisdiction.
The support according to him will come in form of resources both in cash and in kind; equipment, logistics, and exposure to the boxers, trainers, press men, regional executives etc. The exposures per Kyfilla.com understanding will be made to witness or attend boxing programs like tournaments, conferences, seminars and workshops in and outside the country.
Present at the briefing was Mistas Jeffrey Manzan, Western regional Sports Authority director, Twintoh Walker, Ghana Boxing Association Regional Outreach Committee Chairman, Eric Bruce who is the Regional Ghana Boxing Association Vice Chairman, Sadik Shardow, the Ghana Boxing Federation Chairman, Anthony Baah, the National Youth Association Regional Director, George Nana Ayansu, the Regional Ghana Boxing Federation Treasurer, Francis Akoto, the Ghana Ghana Boxing Federation Regional Organizer among others.
