The Ghana Football Association Normalization Committee Special Competition has been launched today.
The competition which is solely for both the Premier League as well as the Division One clubs is to fill the vacuum created since football activities in the country was halted in June last year following the Anas expose which uncovered the rot in Ghana football.
The launching exercise saw host of dignitaries gracing the ceremony which was held at the Ghana Football Association Secretariat in Accra today.
During the launching exercise, it was confirmed that each club will receive a participation fee of GHC 300,000.
The Premier League clubs who will qualify to the round 32 as leaders of their various groups will pocket a sum of GHC 200,000 and GHC 100,000 for the runner up whilst in the tier 2, which is for the Division One League club, winners of the group stages will clock GHC 150,000 with the runner up to get GHC 80,000.
A sum of GHC 50,000 would be given to each team that qualify for the round 32 and GHC 60,000 for the round 16 clubs. The quarter-finalists will pocket GHC 80,000 with that of the semi-final and the final to be announced later.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the GFA Dr Kofi Amoah said “the competition will be used to test the reforms that will be brought on board as well as the rapid adjudication of cases
In all sixty-two (62) clubs have confirmed their participation with the exemption of WA All Stars and New Edubiase.
