Some aggrieved residents in Tarkwa in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality have blocked the Tarkwa- Takoradi main road over its deplorable states.
The residents blocked the road to protest to the government over it current deplorable states which needs urgent attention.
This is the second time, the residents have embarked on such a demonstration, telling the government to revamp the Tarkwa-Takoradi main road which is currently in a deplorable states.
According to the demonstrators, past government have taken them for granted after lots of promises to rehabilitate the road but all came to nothing.
The action earlier this morning has caused heavy traffic on the road as students and workers are forced to walk to their respective destinations with passengers from Takoradi, Cape Coast and others going to Tarkwa, finding themselves in difficult situations.
The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality is one of the leading producers of gold in the country with heavy-duty vehicles transporting cocoa, bauxite and Manganese for export to the Takoradi Harbor using the same road, which has seen a lot of pressure exerted on the stretch.
