The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Ghana’s sole representative in the 2019 inter-club competition, Kumasi Asante Kotoko $ 9000.
The Porcupines were slapped with $ 5,000 fine for throwing objects onto the pitch during their Confederation Cup duel against Sudanese giant Al Hilal Omdurman at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Also a fine of $ 4,000 has been imposed on the team by CAF due to the nature of the seats at the dugouts of Baba Yara Sports Stadium which houses coaches and substitutes. In a statement issued by CAF, the seats were in poor states which infringes on CAF’s law for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Asante Kotoko were the only Ghanaian representative in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup but got eliminated in the group stages. The team placed third in their group comprising of Al Hilal Omdurman, Nkana FC and Zesco United.
