One of the major concerns for many football loving fans residing in the Western region is the Sekondi Sports Stadium left in a godawful state by the government.
The stadium erupted under the regime of former President, John Agyekum Kuffour to co-host the 2008 African Cup of Nations, is currently in a repugnant state.
The media in the Western region as well as other stakeholders have tried everything possible to jog the memory of the government to revamp the crooked edifice assembled in 2007.
However, the agitation nears solved as the National Sports Authority Board Chairman, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyeman has been billed to address sports broadcasters and other stakeholders in the Western Region at the maiden edition of the Sports Committee Workshop aimed at tackling the region’s sports economy.
Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyeman is expected to unravel government next step in respect to the unspeakable state of the Sekondi Sports Stadium which now serves as a death trap.
The workshop themed “Awakening the Sports Economy in the Western region”, an initiative by the Sports Committee working under the auspices of the Western Regional Coordinating Council, has been slated for Friday, May 31, 2019 at the WRCC Residency in Sekondi.
Other invited guest speakers include the current Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah who is the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana 2023 Project Review Committee and Consultant for the establishment of Ghana Sports Fund.
