Mr. Moses Armah (Mospacka) founded Medeama Football Club on 9 September 2008 at exactly 11:00 am.
This came as a result of an idea mooted by Mr. James Essilfie; the current Chief Executive Officer in his office at Tarkwa which Mr.Armah thought was a fantastic idea. Little did they know what they had started.
Mr.Armah responded in the local language Nzema by responding that, ‘James de ye deye’ which means ‘James let’s form our own club with the primary interest of serving the people of Tarkwa, surrounding towns and villages. (According to the C.e.o, James Asirifi, Medeama sc)
The idea was finally approved by Mr. Albert Commey Aryeetey and Mr. Mohammed Alhassan who advised that the club should start by participating in the local third division league, kicking off a dream of making it one of the big clubs in the top-flight of Ghana football.
CLUB NAME
The name Medeama was chosen after a thorough deliberations with Mr Armah, his friends and colleagues who thought that the name of the club should reflect the local area it would serve.
As such the Nzema word “Medeama”, which means my brother/friend, was chosen to give birth of a dream of making friends through football.
FORMATIVE YEARS
Medeama Football Club took the western Region of Ghana by storm since its formation and within two years of its debut on the football scene it qualified from the Third Division league and Second Division League in the Western Region to the National Division One League.
In the 2009/2010 league season, Medeama FC managed to qualify for the Middle League playoffs but controversial refereeing decision robbed the team of a palce in the Ghana Premier League. (C.e.o, James Asirifi, Medeama football club)
