Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has welcomed the latest developments around Samuel Umtiti.
With the market now shut, Umtiti has informed Barcelona he doesn’t wish to consider new contract talks until this summer.
Barca have been pushing the defender’s camp to discuss terms as his current deal carries the relatively affordable buyout clause of €60m.
Mourinho is a fan of Umtiti – and the player is aware of his admiration. Contact has rumbled on between United and Umtiti’s camp for much of the season – to Barca’s frustration.
And his decision to again delay new contract talks has only added further encouragement to Mourinho that a deal for the France international can be done this summer.
