Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is determined to buy a new centre-half this summer.
Don Balon says Perez is ready to spend big to find an experienced partner for skipper Sergio Ramos next season. The president had been talked out of making any defensive signings this campaign by coach Zinedine Zidane, but is now ready to ignore the Frenchman’s demands.
Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez tops Perez’s shopping list, followed by Manchester City’s Nicolas Otamendi.
Also under consideration is AC Milan captain Leonardo Bonucci, but a deal will prove difficult as the Italy international only joined last summer from Juventus.
Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar has also been mentioned, though Barcelona are in competition for his signature.
