Ashgold will rely on a narrow 3-2 win ahead of the second-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup fixture in Berkane.
The Miners narrowly defeated the Berkane based side 3-2 at the Lenclay Sports Stadium in the first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup prelims today.
Coach Ricardo Da Rocha’ side started the game very well and showed a sign of determination in the early minutes of the game.
Captain Shafiu Mumuni nearly had the opener for Ashgold in the 5th minute, but his effort from Marco Aurelio Silva’ cross was saved by Berkane’ goalkeeper Laaroubi.
Berkane also had a clear cut opportunity to register their first away goal in the match, but El Helaali attempt was saved by goalkeeper Frank Boateng in the 8th minute.

A classy effort from Eric Donkor, opened the deadlock for Ashgold Sporting Club in the 16th minute of the match.
The Miners continued to dictate the pace, trying hard to get the second goal to ease pressure.
The pressure from Ashgold made Berkane to go in for the first substitution, as Souhail Yechou came in for El Helaali in the 31st minute of the game.
Eric Donkor was an inch close from getting a brace in the match but his shot rised over the bar for a goal kick.
Finally, the marksman for the Obuasi based side, Shafiu Mumuni registered his name on the score sheet for Ashgold in the 45th minute to end the first half of the match.
A sick mistakes from the defense of Ashgold saw RS Berkane snatching parity in less than fifteen minutes after the recess of the game.
Mohammed Aziz had the consolation in the 51st minute for the visitors before another silly mistake from the defenders of Ashgold, got Mohammed Farehane the parity in the 57th minute.
The two quick goals from the Moroccans saw Ashgold waking up from their deep sleep, to enjoy possession.
Abdul Amos Addai restored the lead for Ashgold in the 59th minute of the cagey encounter at the Lenclay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.
Ashgold Sporting Club continued to rain more pressure on the visitors but all efforts to get the fourth goal went fruitless as Berkane defended gallantly to end the game.
Ashgold will be traveling to Berkane for the return-leg before securing next round qualification.
