Ampofo Adjei-Kumi Wilson jnr popularly known in the media cycle as ‘Swedru Chicharito’ is a hardworking young man born on Tuesday 19th February, 1985 at Koforidua (E/R).
Ampofo started his early childhood education at CRIG Experimental (koforidua-Tafo), later joined Brightway Preparatory (koforidua-Tafo) and later relocated to Akyem Swedru where he continued his junior high school education at the Methodist jhs. After the completion of his jhs education, he further entered into shs education at Akim Swedru shs (AKISSS) and subsequently completed shs at Akim Achiase shs in 2004.
Whiles in shs, Ampofo discovered his love for sports and radio at large therefore decided to enter into journalism as early as possible due to his passion for the profession to acquire the requisite knowledge in his chosen career thereby enrolling at Golden Splash Network, Accra (2005-2007) to attain a diploma in journalism certificate. In 2008, Ampofo again did a refresher course to broaden his knowledge in other to fit into the industry for good and joined Poaso Media Consult, Accra (2008) for that.
After being in the media industry for some time, Ampofo thought it wise to further his education thereby enrolling at Prominence Institute of Management and Professional Studies (2015- present) where he is currently pursuing a professional degree course in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations.
In his career as a journalist, Ampofo started as a football commentator for the multimedia group limited and later joined Biyac FM in Akim Oda from the later part of 2007 till 2010 where he made his first transfer move in the industry to Kantinka FM (Agona Swedru), where he worked till 2011 and made another move to Star FM (Atebubu, B/A) and also made a U-turn a year after to Kantinka FM (Agona Swedru) where he stayed till 2014 and left after Flex FM (Takoradi) requested for his service. He later joined Connect FM (Takoradi) in 2015 after the sale of Flex Fm to Media General. Ampofo has been with Connect FM from 2015 and doing all he can to raise the image of the station.
Ampofo is always been remembered especially in the central region (Agona Swedru) by leading the crusade for the reconstruction of the Agona Swedru sports stadium of which he received so many death threats from the constructor and his associates including a gun being pulled directly in the face to stop that crusade.
Ampofo has received so many personal awards, appreciations and citations to show gratitude of his hard work
