The Members of Parliament from the Minority side on Thursday, February 20, 2020 boycotted the State of the Nation Address by President Akufo-Addo.
The Minority who are Members of Parliament from the leading opposition party, National Democratic Congress walked out of the Parliament when President Akufo-Addo arrived to deliver the current state of the Nation.
The MP’s chanted to the Ghana national anthem and left the Parliament whiles the President was about to deliver the State of the Nation Address.
The Minority MP’s about a week ago warned to walk out of Parliament if the government fail to release the five percent District Assemblies Common Fund and today, chanted in Parliament by saying, “And help us to resist oppressors’ rule with all our will, and might forevermore,” and walked out of the chamber.
It would be recalled that the Majority MP’s in 2013 when they were at opposition walked out of the chamber when the then President John Mahama was about to deliver the State of the Nation Address.
They did that because the Supreme Court had not given their verdict on the 2012 elections which the then opposition party flagbearer Akufo-Addo was challenging the results of that elections.
