All markets within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) will be shut down on Monday April 6, 2020 for a fumigation exercise to be carried out.
According to a statement from STMA, both the Takoradi and the Sekondi Markets will be shut down to the public on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 12 noon to enable Ghana Fire Service flush the drains in preparation to the fumigation exercise.

Per the statement, the exercise forms part of the government’s programme to fumigate all markets and other public areas across the country following the recorded cases of COVID 19 pandemic in the country.
The exercise is expected to cover all the markets and other public areas such as transport terminals, events ground, drains and others.
Over one hundred and twenty-five (125) sprayers are expected to undertake the exercise in the Metropolis.
