Some front-line workers at western region helping in the combat against the COVID–19 Pandemic have contracted the virus due to lack of Personal Protective Equipment.
According to Dr. Joseph Tambil, the medical director of the Effia–Nkwanta Hospital some of the front-line workers are made to isolate themselves for contracting the virus due to lack of PPEs.

The dire conditions at the facility has led to the closure of the Antenatal Care Unit, Child Welfare Clinic and Ear, Nose and Throat Unit.
Though the number of infected practitioners were not revealed, Dr. Tambil quipped the decision was due to some of the frontline workers contracting the virus.

According to the Medical Director some of the affected front-line workers were nurses – and have been placed under isolation.
“We are uncertain when these units will be opened, the affected nurses are currently self-isolated” – Dr. Joseph Tambil.

It’s unclear how many of the affected front-line workers contribute to the 61 cases in the region.
