Gone were the days when football in the Western Region and the Ghana Premier League wasn’t fun without the Sekondi Eleven Wise affectionately called the Western Show Boys.
They are arguably the most popular and best supported football team in the Western Region. The club has a long standing tradition of playing the type of fascinating and entertaining game punctuated with eye pleasing dribbling that keep fans on their toes.
However in October 2008, the Western Show Boys suffered relegation to the lower division and currently find themselves in the 2nd division. A team that was once considered as one of the best and have a Ghana Premier League title under their sleeves in 1960. Things have indeed turned from bad to worst for Show Show.

With this perspective, an astute football administrator and a proud Westerner, Mr Gilbert Kwesi Yankson has called on the politicians in the Western Region to come to the aid of the team.
Speaking exclusively with Takoradi based radio station ROK FM with Michael Auston Kyei according to him, this is the perfect time these politicians must come and support the team and shouldn’t wait until election time before they come and make promises to the team.
“The team Eleven Wise is in a difficult state now. Once the people’s favorite is now a team been ridiculed. This is the perfect and idle time that the politicians in the region should come and support the team and to raise the team from where it is now to where we are all expecting the team to be”. He added that all other organizations in the region must also come in board and help redeem the image of Eleven Wise.

“I hope to wake up one day and see Sekondi Eleven Wise back to where it belonged. Corporate organizations must also come and support the team through sponsorships with which I trust that to even have your logo in front of the jerseys of the team is a big marketing exposure based on the pedigree and history backing this great team.
Sekondi Eleven Wise is currently in the 2nd division in the Western Region aiming to book qualification into the division which is about being reduced to an 18 team league before eventually qualifying for the Ghana Premier League which is a very daunting task.
