Black Queens midfielder, Rita Okyere has called on all female footballers in the country to dress as modestly as possible to earn a form of respect from the outside.
Okyere posited that – “People are of the view that female footballers cannot give birth or possibly do not get married because of how muscular they become.

I want to be frank here, most female athletes all over the world are married and with kids so why this perception. It is high time we take these negative sentiments from our minds”
She however acknowledged that some female footballers dress in such a way that society frowns upon by copying the lifestyles of foreign players and urged them to desist from such an act.
“To be honest with you, some of my very own female footballers do not dress as modest as possible. Some of them copy European form of dressing which the tradition in Ghana or our communities do not conform. I will therefore plead with my footballers to be very decent in our way of dressing to be accorded the respect that we all need”.

With Ghana football on hold at the moment because of the directives issued by the government in curtailing the spread of the global pandemic coronavirus, Rita Okyere emphasized the need to put in the right measures in place before concrete solutions are found whether to resume the league or cancel it entirely.
She wouldn’t be however happy should the current football season be declared null and void because of the position of her team Prisons Ladies in the Northern Sector of the women premier league.
“To be fair here and with the level of performance my team has displayed so far in the season, I will be very sad to see the league truncated and for it to be restarted. Prisons Ladies were doing well before the outbreak. I plead with the heads to put in the necessary measures for the league to be continued so that my team (Prisons Ladies) can win the WPL.
Rita Okyere has been on a sensational form in the current football season having notched 3 goals with a couple of assists helping her team to be on top of the northern zone with 17 points after the first round (7 games).
