Obaapanin Kate Serwaa and Comfort Amoateng who are the mother and sister of late politician Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie (Sir John) have been confirmed dead.
The two are said to have passed away on May 27 and June 4, 2020 respectively with their joint burial scheduled for August 27, 2020 at Sakora Wonoo in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region.
It is reported in the media that, Sir John as affectionately called was preparing to bury his two relatives on the aforesaid date but unfortunately has also lost his life.

Sir John passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after testing positive of the deadly Coronavirus.
His unfortunate demise took social media to a standstill as condolences were poured from all angles including caucus of the leading opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political party members.
Before his demise, Sir John was the CEO of the Forestry Commission, an office he was appointed to by President Akufo-Addo in March 2017.
