Motorbike (Okada) riders in Ghana have said they have lost trust in two of Ghana’s major political parties New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to the Secretary of the Okada Riders Association Majid Aminu, the two parties have failed the association after promises to legalized the Okada business.

He explained that, leadership of the association met the National Organizer of the NDC Joshua Akamba in 2016 to discuss means to legalize the okada business but “angry” Akamba sacked them from his office.
They later met some officials from the NPP who were in opposition then and they were promised to legalized the okada business when the NPP win power in 2016 but unfortunately, the NPP have ignored them.

Speaking on Takoradi-based Connect FM, Majid Aminu said, “We met with Akamba (Joshua) in 2016 to discuss the legalization of the okada business but he sacked us from his office. We later met Sammy Awuku when the NPP was in opposition then, he promised us that his party will do something about it when they win power. We campaigned for them (NPP) but they have also ignored us”, Majid Aminu said..

He continued that, “Now we have advised ourselves and about 7,000 of us have registered to vote and will sit down with anyone who wants to help in legalizing the okada business, this time around we will document everything because we don’t trust them anymore”, he added.
