Chiefs and indigens of Akyem Abuakwa on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 have staged an elephantine demonstration against the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress John Mahama.
This comes following a post shared by John Mahama on Facebook which labelled President Akufo-Addo and some top government appointees as Akyem sakawa boys.

The demonstration took place at Asamankese in the Eastern Region which saw some prominent chiefs of the Akyem Abuakwa, Bosome and Kotoku participating to expressed their displeasure against John Mahama’s comment.
The demonstrators called on former President John Mahama to quickly apologise and retract his comment which is indirectly an insult to the Akyems, or else the NDC will be banned from campaigning on Akyem soil..
It would be recalled that, Bolgatanga Central MP, Isaac Adongo, in a statement relating to the controversial Agyapa Royalties deal, accused President Akufo-Addo and other government appointees for forming a family-and-friend cartel to capture the mineral resources of the state via the deal.

He labelled them as “sakawa” and “mafia”, development that has caught the seen prominent personalities backlashing John Mahama for endorsing Isaac Adongo’s comment by sharing the post on his Facebook.
