Confederation of African Football [CAF] President Ahmad Ahmad, has advised Ghana Football Association [GFA] President Kwesi Nyantakyi to contest for the GFA presidential seat in 2019.
The first vice president for the Confederation of African Football has been on the GFA seat for the past thirteen years.
Kwesi Nyantakyi on several occasions has divulged his intentions of leaving office when his term comes to an end.
However, the CAF President believes it will be a wrong decision for his vice not to contest the 2019 FA general elections.
Speaking to Accra based Starr FM, the former Malagasy politician believes if the stakeholders in the game want Kwesi Nyantakyi to continue as the Ghana Football Association boss then he has no option than to adhere to their pleads.
“If the government and the people ask him to continue, then why must he stop? The people need him , the stakeholders need him so why must he not contest again “, He told Starr FM.
“We are here to serve our nation and service to your country comes first and so I will advise him to seek re election in 2019”,he added.
Ahmad Ahmad landed in the country on last Monday to receive an honorary doctorate degree in Law from the University of Professional Studies [UPSA] in Accra and will leave on Thursday morning to continue his role at CAF including helping Morocco to win the 2026 World Cup hosting right as they faces competition from United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
