Mrs. Ophelia Hayford, the wife of slain Mfantseman legislator Ekow Quansah Hayford has been named the successor for her husband who was gruesomely murdered by unknown armed robbers.
According to ace journalist, Philip Osei Bonsu who is the host of Asempa FM’s Eko Sii Sen show, the NPP have settled on Madam Ophelia Hayford to replace her husband as the member of Parliament for the Mfantseman constituency in the Central Region.

The reports further states that, the NPP have written to the Electoral Commission to invoke section 13(4) of CI 127 to allow a 10 day extension of the nomination period within which period the party will file her name.
Mrs. Ophelia Hayford is an Assistant Superintendent of Police and has written to resign from the Ghana Police Service to take over the mantle from where her husband left.

It would be recalled that, Ekow Quansah Hayford was shot dead by armed robbers on Friday dawn around 1:00am when returning from a campaign.

His demise shook many especially his party faithfuls who touted him as a great asset to the NPP and Central Region at large.
He was shot dead a day after he has filed his nomination forms to contest the upcoming to represent the Mfantseman constituency as their legislator in the upcoming general elections.
