The Ghana Police Service have denied media reportage of killing a ballot box snatcher at the Awutu Senya West Constituency.
A young man with the name unknown is said to have attempted snatching a ballot box but was caught by some residents in the Constituency.[ads2]
He was subsequently subjected to a mob attack but earlier reports were that the young man has been shot by the police.
But a statement from the police has denied the reportage, stating that the young man was injured due to the mob attack but has been rushed to the hospital.[ads3]
A statement from the police reads, “Based on an alarm that a young man had attempted to snatch a ballot at Obrakyere in the Awutu Senya West Constituency, some youth of the town subjected the young man to mob attack.”
“A police reinforcement team has since sent the injured young man, found in a pool of blood to the Swedru Government Hospital for treatment. Investigation still ongoing.”
