Police at the Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region have killed a suspected armed robber at the Mampong-Ejura highway.
The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday, December 12 between the Woraso and Sataso stretch off the highway around 8PM.[ads2]
The deceased was among a six gang of armed robbers who were terrorizing passengers on the stretch.
The police was informed and subsequently rushed to the place to help the passengers applying the route.[ads3]
Unfortunately, the armed robbers started shooting at the police when they saw the police patrol vehicle where they also responded.
This led to a ferocious gun battle leading to the death of one of the armed robbers but the rest had to run for their lives at a nearby bush.[ads5]
