The driver of the deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor has been arrested by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) formerly known as Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI).
Reports indicate that the arrest is in connection with the recent fires at the various markets in the country.[ads2]
It is not known whether the driver whose name has been given as Eric Adogla has a hand in the recent market fires or the incidents is masterminded by some elements in the leading opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) who have been demonstrating since the declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the winner of the 2020 December polls.[ads2]
But speaking to Citi News, Victor Adawudu who is the lawyer on the case said, “We [his lawyers] have been denied access to him, and they are not even telling us where he is and when I can access him.”
“This is very unacceptable, and we cannot be intimated like that. I know he is with the BNI, but they want to torture him and all before giving us access to him,” Mr. Adawudu said..
Recently, major markets in Koforidua, Kantamanto, Asankragwa and, lately, Kaneshie, have been torched in one way or the other..
