The New Patriotic Party (NPP) have said they have won the Techiman South parliamentary seat.
According to the party’s campaign manager, Peter Mac Manu, the NPP won the seat with over 400 votes difference.[ads2]
Few days ago, the NDC were claiming they have rather won the seat per their collation result but the Electoral Commission want to rig the result in favor of the NPP.
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Techiman South Christopher Baayire has also said that the NDC won the seat by more than 700 votes. He said a simple re-collation will reveal that NDC won.[ads3]
“The minimum per hour results is about 700 per vote difference for the Parliamentary which we have the pink sheets available. Why is that they are insisting they would not do collation or re-collation like they did for Banda two to three times?”
He called on the Stakeholders to note that the happenings in Techiman South might escalate if the World Stakeholders, Peace Council, Christian Council don’t intervene.[ads4]
But at a press conference, Peter Mac Manu indicated that the NPP’s parliamentary candidate Martin Agyei Mensah won the Techiman South seat with 49,682 votes as against Baayire’s 49,205 votes.
Peter Mac Manu however kicked against the NDC’s nationwide demonstration against the results of the polls announced by the Electoral Commission, urging the leadership of the party to rather challenge the decision at a “competent court of jurisdiction”.
He believes the NDC is not ready for court action since they have nothing to present to court thus inciting their supporters to embark on “unnecessary demonstrations” across the country.
Mr. Manu also heralded the Ghana Police Service for showing professionalism since the NDC begun the nationwide demonstrations and protests.[ads5]
